The first time I met Harlan Ellison he was not exactly friendly. I was still in High School and really excited to go to his book signing at A Change Of Hobit. I took my camera but
should not have bothered.
Harlan was in no mood for anyone taking his picture that day and was not very gracious about it.
He and I were good pals for many years . . . until we *weren't* . . . he was a very complicated character. And as they say at the rummage sales: "Some good, some not so good."
